For decades, Leila Josefowicz has been among North America’s foremost violinists, and it is particularly exciting that she should hold a chamber music recital during her stay in Iceland. Josefowicz has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with John Adams, whose works will be heard at both of her programmes in Reykjavík. Road Movies is a lively, swinging piece described by the composer as a take on a road trip through a landscape that changes slowly – but changes nonetheless. Prokofiev wrote his Violin Sonata, one of his most masterful works, in the Soviet Union during World War II.

This concert is part of Iceland Symphony's LA/Reykjavík-Festival, 3rd - 12th of November, where music from LA is at the center of the stage.
