Voces Thules and guests

Vocal ensemble Voces Thules performs a programme of polyphonic music from early Icelandic and British medieval manuscripts. Also Psalm paraphrases set to European 16th century 4-part compositions preserved in Icelandic manuscripts with Icelandic texts. Finally there will be compositions from the golden age of the poliphonic style for instance by Palestrina, Byrd and Lassus.

The concert is a homage to opera singer and carpenter Halldór Vilhelmsson, one of the pioneers at the Icelandic Opera. He would have turned 80 on the 24th of April had he lived. Halldór was a catalyst and had his influence in the early years of the Voces Thules ensemble. He came with the idea of the ensembles most extensive project, the perfromance, recording and publishing of St. Thorlak's Office.
